Knox (Kitty) is born in Cambridge.

October 7, 1874

After her father’s death, Kitty Knox and her family to move to 3 Irving Street. She subsequently joins the Riverside Cycle Club, Boston’s only African-American club, and becomes one of the leading bicycle racers in the country, often the only woman competing with men. She joins the National League of American Wheelmen in 1893, a year before membership is restricted to whites. Knox dies in 1900 and is buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery.
